Much like "Jah Mandela" there was no preproduction plan for this song. In fact, the production of this track is almost completely the same... It is kind of my culture of production. If I'm making a DAW based project then I just go with the flow and see where I end up.
I started by staring at an empty Logic project, and eventually deciding I would load in an EXS24 synth and play around on my MIDI board. Logics VST contain some cool stuff and after a while I found a sound that really fitted the 3 octave melody I was playing... the track was born.
It really captivated me from the go. This 3 octave melody was pretty basic and uninteresting. But the synth I eventually went with kind of dragged the tuning about. It grabs your attention and provokes thoughts like "is this right? is something wrong? Is this all in my head?" And that's the effect that built the concept for this track... it's trippy and odd. I never actually set out to make this kind of music. I just let the creativity navigate itself.
